Plenary Health and its project partners at Halton Healthcare have officially broken ground on the $512 million Milton District Hospital expansion project.
The official ceremony marked the commencement of construction with Plenary’s building partner, PCL Constructors Canada, having already made excellent progress since mobilizing on site this spring.
CEO, Plenary Concessions, Mike Marasco said that bulk excavation had commenced and the project’s first of two tower cranes had been delivered to site.
“We’re very excited to mark the commencement of construction, on what is a very important project for the Milton community.”
“Construction mockups are well underway and 100 per cent design development is targeted for completion in the next few months, with concrete foundation work set to commence in late summer.”
Mr Marasco said that construction is expected to be complete in the spring of 2017.
The expansion will add 330,000 square feet of space to the existing 125,000-square-foot hospital.
The project will target the Canada Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED®) rating system, with a goal of achieving LEED® Silver certification.
The Plenary Health team for the Milton District Hospital expansion project includes: Plenary Group, PCL Investments Canada, PCL Constructors Canada, B+H Architects, RTKL Associates, Johnson Controls, and RBC Capital Markets.
