Infrastructure Ontario and Halton Healthcare announced that Plenary Health has achieved substantial completion on the Milton District Hospital expansion project.
The expansion added 330,000 square feet of space to the existing 125,000 square foot hospital and will provide Milton residents with new healthcare technologies and improved access to the hospital services they need, close to home.
With an air-tight 25-month design-build schedule executed on an active hospital site, more than 40 PCL employees influenced an outstanding safety culture that sent over 600 tradespeople home safely every day.
“We are thrilled to have achieved this significant milestone for the Milton District Hospital. We’d like to thank the entire Plenary Health team along with our partners at Halton Healthcare and Infrastructure Ontario for their efforts in delivering this state-of-the-art hospital on-time and on-budget,” said Angela Taylor, Plenary’s Group Head, Buildings Division. “I’d also like to congratulate PCL for their incredible safety record on this project, with an outstanding 1.2 million hours worked without a lost time injury.”
With construction substantially complete, Halton Healthcare now has full access to the expansion and will begin preparing the space for occupancy. The hospital is expected to begin providing patient care services in the new space in fall 2017.
