The Los Angeles Convention Center Expansion and Modernization project will connect the two existing South and West Exhibit halls by adding 190,000 square feet of space to create one contiguous hall with more than 750,000 square feet, and will add 39,000 square feet of new meeting room space and 95,000 square feet of multipurpose space.
The Project also includes the modernization of the existing South and West Halls and the addition of digital signage on the existing facilities and new construction.
The convention center will remain open during construction and will achieve Olympic Readiness by spring 2028 (in time for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games), with final completion expected in spring 2029.

The Project achieves the following sustainability standards:
At the top level of the expansion, a multi-purpose space (MPS) of 98,000 square feet of column-free space with a clear ceiling height of 28 feet, the MPS will provide column-free flexible space. The convertible MPS will be used for additional meeting rooms, lecture space and banqueting. The space will have operable partition walls for dividing the room into as many as 33 meeting rooms that are at least 1,800 square feet. To capitalize on unparalleled views of downtown LA and the Hollywood Hills, there will be 10,000 square feet of outdoor event space on the same level.
Skynode: The design of the expansion capitalizes on LA’s most valuable resource — sunlight — by creating a grand interior public space that is carved through the depth of the building. The Skynode atrium is lined with dynamic forms of circulation, gathering spaces and overlooks that enhance the feeling of security and community. The ground floor of the Skynode is an extension of Pico Boulevard, inviting visitors through and up into the building. The daylight calibrated shape of the Skynode projects light down onto the broad pedestrian walkway along the Pico Lobby entrance. The Skynode atrium is at the heart of the expanded convention center, creating a grounding point of interest that all visitors will experience as they move through the convention center.
The project will create more than 15,000 new jobs, generate over $150M in additional visitor spending each year and contribute $652M in tax revenue to the City of Los Angeles.
IADP and its partners are committed to using a workforce comprised of at least 80% Bahamian workers to carry out all phases of the project.
