The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, announced that Plenary’s Corner Brook Care Partnership consortium has been selected to design, build, finance and maintain a new long-term care facility that will benefit Corner Brook and Western Newfoundland.
The new facility will include 120 long-term care beds, as well as 15 palliative care beds and 10 rehabilitative care beds.
On site activity will begin in the coming days with the facility set to open in spring 2020, generating 380 person-years of employment and $43 million in GDP during that time.
The value of the contract with Corner Brook Care Partnership is approximately $120 million. The contract will cover a 30-year period.
The Corner Brook Care Partnership team is led by Plenary, which is internationally recognized as a leading developer of health care facilities in North America, and includes Montgomery Sisam Architects, and two businesses, Marco Services as the builder, and G.J. Cahill as the service provider, from Newfoundland and Labrador.
“We are honoured to have been selected as the Preferred Proponent to deliver a long-awaited and much-needed long-term care facility in the community of Corner Brook. We look forward to achieving commercial and financial close and beginning what we know will be a productive, long-term relationship with Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Brian Budden, President and CEO of Plenary.
