Plenary Health has reached service commencement on the Swift Current Long-Term Care Centre, recently renamed “The Meadows”.

The milestone was reached on April 30, 2016, after 19 months of design and construction. Plenary Health was announced as the preferred bidder in July 2014.

The new facility will open with full operations and services in early June when the Cypress Health Region will begin transitioning up to 200 residents, in stages, into their new homes.

The long-term care facility, Saskatchewan’s first public-private partnership, has 225 beds and will replace three existing facilities: the Swift Current Care Centre, the Prairie Pioneers Lodge and the Palliser Regional Care Centre.

The new facility is located on a 15-acre parcel of land adjacent to the Cypress Regional Hospital, and will include:

  • Twenty-one 10-bed houses and one 15-bed hospice house (promoting a home-like environment for residents),
  • An adult day care,
  • A services centre, and
  • A link to the hospital.

Mike Marasco, CEO of Plenary Concessions, on behalf of Plenary Health Swift Current Limited Partnership said: “Plenary Health Swift Current is proud to have reached this significant project milestone, on-time and on-budget. We look forward to partnering with the Province of Saskatchewan and the Cypress Health Region for many years to come.”
