Mayor Eric Garcetti has nominated Dale Bonner, Executive Chairman of Plenary Concessions, to the Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners.
Bonner, who previously served as the State of California’s Secretary of Business, Transportation and Housing – a position that included oversight of the California Highway Patrol – is also a senior advisor to the Milken Institute, and has also served on the LA City Ethics Commission and the Board of Directors for the California Science Center and Exposition Park.
When he was a young attorney, Bonner provided staff support to the Christopher Commission, which helped usher in an era of historic reforms at the LAPD.
As Secretary of Business, Transportation and Housing, Bonner initiated the California Urban Communities Collaborative – a platform for collaboration among state and local law enforcement and community stakeholders in Los Angeles and Oakland.
“Dale is an extraordinary leader who understands the critical importance of transparency, accountability, and giving the brave women and men of the LAPD the tools and technology they need to excel at their jobs and meet the demands of 21st century policing,” Mayor Garcetti said.
“It will be an honor to be a member of the Police Commission, and I am grateful to Mayor Garcetti for this opportunity to serve a community that has given so much to me,” Mr Bonner said. “The LAPD is an outstanding department, filled with people who have dedicated their lives to protecting and serving Angelenos. I am excited to bring my experience and perspective to the task of building relationships and capabilities that make our people safer and our neighborhoods more secure.”
