First residents move into Swift Current’s new long-term care facility

Plenary Health has celebrated the opening of The Meadows, the new long-term care facility in Swift Current, at a celebration attended by Premier Brad Wall. 

Plenary Concessions CEO Mike Marasco said reaching this milestone was exciting for the region and for Plenary Health. 

“The team has achieved a first-of-its-kind public-private partnership project for the Province that will provide a template for future healthcare developments, and will improve the health and well-being of long-term care residents well into the future,” Mr Marasco said. 

“The Plenary team worked with its consortium partners to complete the project on time and on budget, and we look forward to partnering with the Province of Saskatchewan and the Cypress Health Region in the years ahead.” 

Cypress Health moved the first residents into their new homes on 5 June, with the full 200 residents relocating over the coming months and all patients expected to transition to the new site by mid-September. 

The Meadows houses 210 long-term care beds and 15 palliative care facilities, an increase from the 198 beds at the previous facility. 

The new facility’s unique design creates a homely, community environment for residents. 

Construction on the project reached completion at the end of April following 19 months of design and construction works. 

In 2014, Plenary Health was selected to design, build and finance the project and will continue to maintain the facility for a further 30 years.
