Plenary Americas’ Connect 6ix consortium has achieved financial close on the $9B Ontario Line Rolling Stock, Systems, Operations and Maintenance (RSSOM) contract.
This is one of several contracts to deliver the Ontario Line, a 15.6-kilometre standalone rapid transit line that will connect the Ontario Science Centre to Exhibition/Ontario Place with 15 stations and more than 40 connections to existing transit options along the route. The Ontario Line will be part of an integrated transit network that will make getting around the city and entire region easier and more intuitive.
The RSSOM scope of work includes a 30-year contract to:
The new Ontario Line will provide faster, more frequent, and reliable access to rapid transit and will improve the quality of life for daily commuters by reducing travel times. Ridership is estimated at up to 388,000 trips each day. The region is also expected to see a reduction in traffic congestion, greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption by providing an alternative transportation option.
Construction on the RSSOM contract is expected to begin in 2023 with completion in 2031.
“Reaching financial close on the Ontario Line RSSOM project is an exciting milestone for Plenary Americas and the rest of the Connect 6ix consortium,” said Brian Budden, President & CEO of Plenary Americas. “We look forward to working with our partners at Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario to help improve capacity, reliability and access to rapid transit across the region.”
