Responsibilities
- Lead execution and implementation of key Commercial and Corporate strategic opportunities, including working with counterparties and reviewing and negotiating agreements;
- Provide ad-hoc Commercial support to Project Structuring and Investment group on strategic opportunities;
- Oversee commercial and revenue risk elements of existing projects, including retail space management, food services, revenue collection, etc. and oversee execution of these programs in preparation for and during project operations;
- Lead Commercial aspects of prospective secondary market deals and M&A related opportunities;
- Identify new business opportunities (e.g., existing asset variations, new lines of business, among others) to grow revenue and add value to the overall company;
- Identify opportunities to increase corporate profitability and value through risk mitigation or cost reduction;
- Provide formal and informal coaching and leadership of junior employees within the office; and
- Support senior management in other areas as required to ensure the success of the organization.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of practice as a lawyer at a construction, engineering, or law firm with practice in construction law and/or PPP projects in Canada or the United States.
- Heavy civil construction, PPP projects, or similar experience is preferred.
- Experience with review and negotiation of construction contracts.
- Strong work ethic and high level of professional integrity. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, commitment, and attention to detail.
- Self-starter with the ability to work both independently with minimal guidance and in a team setting.
- Fluency in Spanish (both written and spoken) is an asset.
