The Role

In this role, you will provide overall management of all technical components of large-scale infrastructure project in the Bahamas and ensure all project commitments, milestones and deliverables are monitored and met. Your strengths fall in the areas of organization, contract administration, communication, quality control, attention to detail, planning, coordination, writing, and proof-reading. You are an independent and self-motivated individual who enjoys the challenges of working under their own initiative and at the same time appreciates a team centered environment working towards the overall success of the team.

Responsibilities

General responsibilities:

  • Manage delivery of the capital projects program in accordance with the Concession Agreement and related contracts (subcontracts, design, construction, etc.).
  • Maintain close working relationships between design, construction, operations, and clients.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reports for management and Boards on design, construction, and asset performance.
  • Develop and implement community outreach programs for Capital Projects’ positive public relations.
  • Measure success by meeting budget, schedule, and maintaining a strong reputation for the Developer and Plenary Americas with the Bahamian government, Airport Authority, and stakeholders.
  • Support Senior Management and work extended hours as needed.
  • Work with airport operations and authorities to refine capital project scopes for operational support.
  • Ensure the completion of capital projects within budget and schedule as required by the Management Agreement.

Construction responsibilities:

  • Ensure quality delivery of design and construction for Phase 1A capital projects at Exuma, North Eleuthera, and Governor’s Harbour Airports, within budget and schedule as per the Management Agreement.
  • Verify design work aligns with operational plans, standards, and budget.
  • Coordinate design and construction efforts with the airport operator and air service development.
  • Manage contracts for design and construction, ensuring additional work stays within budget.
  • Procure and manage construction contracts, obtaining competitive quotes and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement and oversee quality control processes, ensuring inspections and the resolution of quality issues.
  • Coordinate with finance team to review, validate, and ensure accurate invoicing.
  • Track project costs, compare with budget, and regularly report updates to management.
  • Proactively address potential issues, including RFIs and change orders, to stay on schedule and within budget.
  • Act as a liaison with the Airport Authority, managing concerns and securing permits and approvals.
  • Coordinate with the airport operations team, ensuring safe and efficient airport operations during project implementation.
  • Ensure contractors maintain appropriate insurance coverage during project work.
  • Maintain proper contract records, draft change orders, and ensure timely review by senior management.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of quality, safety, and environmental management systems.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education.
  • 4+ years of working experience in project coordination and management – specifically within construction projects would be an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity under tight deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic and high level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Work positively within a cohesive team to achieve the common goal of project completion.
  • Knowledge of construction management processes and terminology is preferred.
  • Flexible, dynamic, solutions oriented mindset capable of bringing diverse teams to resolution of project issues.
  • Experience using Sharepoint and a scheduling or project management software would be an asset.
