The Gatineau 2 Project: Future Forward Design to Protect Canada’s Past study explores how:

  • Using a P3 procurement model provided the Government of Canada with a greater opportunity to ensure risks were allocated to the partner best equipped to manage them.
  • The new Preservation Storage Facility is the first federal government building constructed to meet Canada’s Greening Government Strategy’s net zero carbon requirements.
  • Every square metre of this facility has been carefully thought through and maximized, while maintaining the rigorous, highly specialized standards required of a state-of-the-art building housing such culturally important materials.
  • A robust and ongoing communication strategy between partners is enabling mutual success over the 32-year O&M agreement.
