Plenary is strengthening its investment practices, becoming a signatory to the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment, the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).

Established in partnership with UNEP Finance Initiative and UN Global Compact, the PRI works to understand the investment implications of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors, and to support its international network of investor signatories in incorporating these factors into their investment and ownership decisions.

The principles encourage investors to use responsible investment to enhance returns and better manage risks.

Developed by investors, for investors, they provide a framework for incorporating ESG considerations into investment practice.

By implementing them, signatories contribute to developing a more sustainable global financial system.

As a long-term investor, we have a duty to act in the best long-term interests of our beneficiaries and we are committed to including each of the following six principles into our business:

  • Incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes
  • Be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into ownership policies and practices
  • Seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest
  • Promote acceptance and implementation of the principles within the investment industry
  • Work together to enhance effectiveness in implementing the principles
  • Report on our activities and progress towards implementing the principles

It follows a host of ESG-related initiatives recently pursued by Plenary, including establishing a dedicated Sustainability Leadership Group focussed on it ESG agenda, launching its first diversity and inclusion commitments and formally joining the Reconciliation Action Plan program following the endorsement of its inaugural RAP.
