Supporting the Voice to Parliament

As part of the formal journey of reconciliation that Plenary has been on since 2020, we are committed to raising awareness in, and improving our understanding of, reconciliation and other issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We are working to developing respectful relationships with First Nations peoples, to foster depth of understanding and respect for their histories, cultures and communities, and to work in partnership to improve socioeconomic outcomes.

Later this year, Australia will vote in a referendum on whether to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia and establish an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament.

Plenary’s Board of Directors, in consultation with our Executive Leadership Team and RAP Working Group, supports the proposal to establish the Voice.

We relish the opportunity to continue our leadership role in the industry and to take a public position that aligns with our values.

We are communicating our support and reasoning to our staff, and will provide financial, promotional and other backing to the Yes campaign.

We recognise the referendum is an individual vote and will always foster an environment where our people can share and challenge ideas.

To help our staff make an informed individual decision, we have educated our staff on the Uluru Statement from the Heart and Voice to Parliament and provided information on the official Yes and No campaigns.

Our support for the Voice, and reconciliation more broadly, goes beyond public statements and financial support.

We are well progressed in delivering upon all commitments in our second Reconciliation Action Plan; we are making some genuine progress at both a corporate level, and with many of our projects, working to deliver strong employment and business opportunities for First Nations peoples and organisations.

We look forward to continuing to actively promote reconciliation and providing our people with practical ways to be able to contribute to that journey.
