AUSTRALIA and UAE – Plenary’s partnership with the Bachar Houli Foundation grows from strength to strength, with the foundation’s annual Elite Performance Camp having recently concluded.
The foundation develops and empowers young Muslim leaders through programs focusing on engagement, education, employment and talent development. The cornerstone of its Elite Performance Academy – a 12-month program that focuses on developing the leadership skills, identity and physical performance of young Australian Muslim footballers – is an eight-day international camp in the UAE called the Elite Performance Camp, which Plenary supported.
Foundation founder Bachar Houli said the Elite Performance Camp’s journey has taken participants to Qatar and the UAE.
“We’ve established great relationships with the locals and schools in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. In a short period of time, the Elite Performance Camp has grown so much.”
Mr Houli said the foundation is proud to have companies like Plenary on board.
“Bachar Houli Foundation and Plenary are very likeminded – we’re both community driven and the fact that we’re both in the UAE shows that we’ll continue to grow together in this region.”
Plenary Chief Investment Officer Paul Crowe said it’s important for the company to engage with the communities in which its projects exist. Plenary won its first public-private partnership bid in the Middle East in 2022 with Zayed City Schools, a project that will be completed this year.
“We thought about how we could create a cultural bridge to the activities and programs that we’re doing in the Middle East and came across the great work of the Bachar Houli Foundation.”
Mr Crowe said the partnership between Plenary and the Bachar Houli Foundation has been a great success.
“We’ve been able to support their Elite Performance Camp where they bring young Australians over to the Middle East to expose them to the culture and where we, in turn, have the opportunity to expose our partners in the UAE to the Australian culture of football.”
